The Italian Pilot of the CEDIS Project

In May 2025, the CEDIS project reached an important milestone with its Italian pilot, coordinated by Archivio della Memoria (AdM) at IC Largo S. Pio V, Scuola Secondaria Donato Bramante in northern Rome.

The pilot involved 50 students aged 11–14 (two classes) and 5 teachers, including special needs educators. Over two days of hands-on sessions, students learned to apply Digital Storytelling (DST) methodology to explore the Circular Economy (CE) in creative and collaborative ways.

During the activities, students:

  • Brainstormed ideas for digital stories inspired by CE practices
  • Created storyboards and collected materials from recycled objects
  • Recorded voice-overs, photos, and video clips
  • Produced short digital stories using Canva, integrating images, text, and music

The pilot tested key resources from the CEDIS Digital Storytelling Set of Educational Tools, including modules for teachers and students, as well as the CEDIS Manual. The sessions demonstrated how DST can engage students, foster collaboration, and raise awareness of circular economy principles in secondary education.

All digital stories were produced in Italian (with one in English) and will be subtitled for wider sharing on the project website.
