ESEAL is a European initiative aimed at supporting adult learners with fewer opportunities, especially NEETs (young people not in education, employment, or training), by integrating social entrepreneurship education into adult learning programs.

Empowering Social Entrepreneurship in Adult Learning

ESEAL addresses a critical gap in adult education by making entrepreneurship accessible and relevant to socially and economically marginalized groups. It equips participants with the skills and confidence to actively engage in their communities and labor markets.

The project responds to the need for more inclusive education by targeting adults who are often excluded from traditional entrepreneurship initiatives.

Drawing on insights from the SIATE project — coordinated by VUC and with the active participation of Archivio della Memoria — it became evident that entrepreneurship education predominantly benefits individuals with higher education levels. ESEAL now aims to reach adult learners with little or no formal education in countries such as Italy and Denmark.

Broader Impact

  1. Strengthens institutional capacity within partner organizations.
  2. Promotes lifelong learning, inclusion, and diversity in adult education.
  3. Encourages cross-border collaboration, innovation, and professional exchange.
  4. Produces open educational resources that can be reused and adapted throughout Europe.

By focusing on social entrepreneurship as a tool for inclusion, ESEAL contributes to building a fairer, more resilient adult education system.
