ERASMEDIAH Workshops

Over the months of April and May 2025, we successfully conducted the ERASMEDIAH workshops at Donato Bramante Secondary School, bringing students, teachers, and facilitators together to explore the challenges of social media hyperconnectivity.

The pilot unfolded in three main phases:

Preparatory Meetings and Workshops (Early April)

We first met with teachers to understand the school context, discuss students’ digital habits, and adjust the workshops to their needs.
A subsequent introductory session with students helped create a trusting atmosphere and encouraged them to reflect on their everyday social media experiences.

Theoretical Introduction (15 April 2025)

During the first workshop, students received a theoretical overview of key topics such as critical thinking, cyberbullying, and responsible online behaviour.
They were asked to select a photo and write five keywords describing a social media experience that had caused them discomfort—an exercise that supported self-reflection and prepared them for deeper group work.
The realistic scenarios used in the session helped students connect the content to their real digital lives.

Practical, Scenario-Based Workshops (12–13 May 2025)

In the final phase, students participated in 90-minute practical workshops.
Working in small groups, they analysed digital content, evaluated real-life social media situations, and engaged in guided discussions.
These activities strengthened:
✔️ critical thinking skills
✔️ awareness of online risks
✔️ the ability to reflect on digital behaviour and its consequences.

The pilot confirmed:
🔹 the relevance of topics such as cyberbullying, online pressure, and digital well-being for this age group;
🔹 the need for structured educational tools for teachers and families;
🔹 students’ strong engagement when working with realistic, relatable examples.
